Hello — my name is Dakota Carrasco. I'm a portfolio specialist at BlackRock in San Francisco, where I've been for a little under a year as of writing this (June 2026). Finance is the day job; everything on this site is what I build outside of it — software and hardware I take as seriously as anything at work.
The Dissent
The most developed of them is The Dissent. I'm the only person who operates it, but it effectively runs on AI agents that source and report the news. It grew out of an earlier news project I'd been tinkering with for a while; the current, fully agentic version came together much more recently, once tools like Claude Code and Codex matured. It started as national coverage, but I've since narrowed it down to San Francisco. I read a lot of the stories myself, because I think it offers better coverage than what's out there — and it's ad-free.
Journalism has slowly been bought up and subsidized. Some people will say using agents to report the news is the wrong thing to do. I think what's currently being reported doesn't fill the gaps, and I can do it for a fraction of the cost. This trend isn't going to reverse — more and more news deserts will appear, and either my version of this or something like it will step in to fill them. It's a little sad, but the competition for attention has never been more expensive, or more important.

Enjambre
Enjambre is a remote multiplayer drone-combat arena — pilot a real FPV quad over the internet against opponents in a netted ranch enclosure.
It's the project I'm most excited about, and the one where everything I care about collides: a long fascination with drones, a belief that autonomous swarms will reshape how nations think about defense, and a conviction that nothing builds skill faster than competition. The goal is an arena where people learn, compete, and innovate on real hardware — and walk away with skills that could matter far beyond the game.
